Defending Uniqueness

"Jim Valentini's deanship has been marked by his deep commitment to Columbia College students and the core values of the College that have been the hallmark of great deans; Jim joins Austin E. Quigley and Bob Pollack CC’61 in that category. As a former president of the Columbia College Alumni Association and the organizer (with Mel Schwartz CC’53, GSAS’58) of the Committee on the Future of Columbia College, I can say that it is crucial that the College at all times and in all generations have a leader of character and forcefulness, like Jim, to defend the greatness and the uniqueness of Columbia College, the jewel in the crown of the University."
